That One Time A Stranger Showed Me Kindness | Niagara
/I hoped to publish this blog on a later date, so I could share some of the videos from my trip to Canada and more specifically, the Niagara Falls tour. But then I’d be waiting a rather long time and I can always write another blog to share those videos. As you may have guessed, I went to Toronto on a solo trip and I did the Niagara Falls day and night tour. I know I often bank on the unpleasant experiences that I have and turn those into blogs for your viewing pleasure. But it just wouldn’t be right if I didn’t take the opportunity to talk about some of the positive things that came out of the travels either.
The Niagara Falls tour picks you up from your hotel* (*due to intense road works and road blocks we had to make our way to the common pick up point in the city) in the afternoon at 1pm and thus begins your route to the Falls. The tour that I booked through TripAdvisor provides the option of adding dinner to your package and the dinner is at the Sheraton FallsView Hotel. On a side note: if you end up doing this tour, definitely choose the dinner option. Thank me later. I had chosen the dinner option and as the time for us to go have dinner got closer, I couldn’t help but worry.
I was doing this tour by myself whilst everyone else on the same tour had a companion. Yes I got to talk to new people, I don’t know if we’ll be able to keep in touch, I hope we do, and given we live in the wonderful world of the interweb, I hope we can cross paths electronically at the least. But anyway, as the time approached for dinner, I had a sinking feeling in my stomach knowing that I’d be sitting by myself having food. I dreaded the thought of it.
We were on the lift and on our way up, when a mother and daughter who were also on the same tour, invited me to sit with them for dinner. I don’t know what I would have done if they didn’t. I will not reveal any names but thank you so much for inviting me to sit with you that night. The daughter said multiple times that she was proud of me and that I was brave to do this sort of thing on my own. If only she knew the levels of anxiety that were flowing through me that day.
The buffet dinner at the Sheraton FallsView hotel was fantastic. The spread was more than you could ever hope for and I got to enjoy that a lot more because I had people to enjoy it with. You get to enjoy a front row view of the Falls in its entirety. I hope one day, when I go back to Niagara and stay a day or two there, I will most definitely make my way to Sheraton Falls View.
I hope you stumble across this blog (yes I plugged my blog to her) and read this particular post. You showed me great kindness and I hope I can one day do the same, whether that’s for you or for someone else. I hope the rest of your trip to Canada went smoothly.
Until next time,
MiliG
