Rio De Janeiro | Brazil

I thought long and hard as to what I was going to title this blog. Apart from the name of the city nothing came to mind. As a kid, I used to be an avid player of Fifa 99 (Fifa 1999), and the mention of Brazil would mean football players Ronaldo and Rivaldo, not that I’d recognise them if I saw their photos today.

I grew up always seeing the iconic Christ the Redeemer photos at the mention of Rio, or the second landmark being the Copacabana Beach. Never in a million years, had I ever have thought, that Brazil would be a country I’d visit, and have the opportunity to see these landmarks. In fact, until I went to Brazil, the only city I really knew that existed here was Rio.

No, this blog isn’t about what to do and what not to do in Brazil, but rather to express the sense of achievement I feel in knowing that I have set foot in Brazil. When planning this trip, all I could think about and say was that, I can’t wait to see Christ the Redeemer and go to Sugar Loaf mountain. I feel like I said it at least 100 times, before the lead up to the tour.

Rio is such a feel good city, and the views of the Atlantic leave you speechless. I had such great views from my hotel, that honestly, I’d love a fantastic cup of coffee and just sit at my balcony and look out to the ocean, and once the sun sets see the neighbouring areas light up. Yes, I could see Christ from my room too.

I don’t know what it is about Rio, that attracts me towards it. Is it the attractions? Or the people? Or the vibe? Maybe a combination of all.

I’ll keep this short, but Rio is definitely a place I’m going back to.

Until next time,
